Borj Dar Baroud (Interpretation Centre)

History & Cultural Role

Constructed in the 15th century and fortified during the Saadian and Alaouite eras, Borj Dar Baroud is a coastal artillery bastion anchoring the northeastern corner of Tangier’s Medina. Following meticulous heritage restoration, it now houses a military interpretation museum and panoramic terrace host to open-air concerts.

Open-air acoustic concerts, Tanjazz sunset sessions, military fortification interpretation exhibits, and coastal cultural events overlooking the port.

Practical Visitor Information

Situated at the northern edge of the Old Medina overlooking the Port of Tangier Ville. Walk 5 minutes from the port marine terminal or down from Petit Socco through Rue Dar el-Baroud.
