History & Cultural Role
Théâtre Riad Sultan is an independent performing arts venue situated inside Tangier’s historic Kasbah near the Mechouar. Founded by playwright Zoubeir Ben Bouchta, the venue hosts acoustic concerts, theatrical premieres, chamber music, and artistic residencies within a restored heritage riad.
Typical Programming
Contemporary theatre premieres, acoustic jazz and classical recitals, Sufi musical evenings, poetry readings, and creative residencies.
Practical Visitor Information
Located inside the Kasbah walls. Take a petit taxi to Bab El Kasbah, then walk 2 minutes through the Mechouar plaza. Due to narrow historic alleyways, vehicle access directly to the door is not possible.
